Brazil Bela Vista Pulped Natural is a single-origin green coffee from Fazenda Bela Vista, a family estate in the Sul de Minas region of Minas Gerais. These are unroasted Arabica beans, grown at 1,100–1,200 metres and grown for home roasting – a forgiving, dependable lot that gives new and experienced roasters a wide margin to dial in.

Cupping Profile

Pulped natural processing points this coffee toward a full, creamy body with moderate acidity and gentle sweetness. Expect subtle notes of nuts and berries to emerge as the roast develops. The profile is rounded rather than bright, which makes the cup easy to read on the cupping table and easy to reproduce batch to batch – a good reference point for calibrating a new setup.

Processing

The pulped natural method removes the cherry skin but leaves the sticky mucilage on the bean to dry. That layer of fruit sugar dries onto the seed, building body and a fruit-forward sweetness that a fully washed coffee doesn't carry. It sits between washed and natural processing, and it is a large part of why this lot drinks heavier and rounder than a comparable Brazilian washed coffee.

Roast Guidance

These beans are even in density and screen 16+, so they take heat predictably. They hold up well from City through Full City: a medium roast keeps the nut-and-berry character and body forward, while pushing toward Full City deepens the sweetness and rounds the acidity further. The wide, forgiving development window is what makes this a reliable starting coffee for a new roaster.
