Kenya Special Reserve is a bright, vibrant single-origin Kenyan coffee from our Gran Riserva collection, grown at exceptional altitude on Kenya's high plateaus. Freshly roasted on demand in our Montréal facility using our signature TAG method, it is a medium-bodied cup prized for its richness and lively, sparkling acidity. It is a coffee for those who love clarity and brightness, at its best as filter or espresso.

Tasting Notes

This is a coffee celebrated for its brightness. A vibrant, sparkling acidity leads over a medium body, delivering the clarity and richness that make Kenyan coffees so sought after. Clean, lively, and complex, it is a cup that rewards a careful brew and shows beautifully as filter coffee.

Origin

Kenya Special Reserve comes from the high-altitude plateaus of Kenya, a country with a storied coffee heritage. Coffee first arrived here in 1893, when missionaries brought Arabica trees from Ethiopia and planted them north of Nairobi. Today, Kenya's meticulous approach to quality has made its coffees among the most prized – and most sought after – in the world.

Roast

Kenya Special Reserve is roasted using our TAG method – Torrefazione Artigianale Granito, our artisanal single-origin roast. Drawing on more than four decades of expertise in green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping, the TAG roast fully caramelises the beans' natural sugars to unlock their richest, most complex flavours. It is a careful, intuitive process, guided by the hand of our Master Roaster to bring out the fullest potential of this single-origin Kenyan coffee.

Brewing

For espresso, use about 1 tbsp (8 g) of coffee per 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh water. For filter or drip coffee, use 1 tbsp (8 g) per 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water.
