Indonesia Flores is an intense, exotic single-origin Indonesian coffee from our Gran Riserva collection, grown on the volcanic island of Flores. Freshly roasted on demand in our Montréal facility using our signature TAG method, it is at once intense and sweet, layering fruity notes of plum and blueberry with a spicy edge of pepper and curry. It is a striking, one-of-a-kind cup, at home as filter or espresso.
Tasting Notes
This is a coffee of real character, both intense and sweet at once. Ripe notes of plum and blueberry are threaded with a distinctive spice – think cracked pepper and a whisper of curry – over a full, satisfying body. Complex and unexpected, it is a cup that rewards curiosity and slow, careful brewing.
Origin
Indonesia Flores is grown by around thirty families in the village of Watujaji, who farm together as the Sinar Tani cooperative – a name that translates as "Peasant Light." Their beans grow on rich volcanic soil, surrounded by wild vegetation and free of insecticides and pesticides. Life here draws on a matrilineal tradition passed down through generations, in which land is held and inherited by women – a heritage that gives this coffee a story as distinctive as its flavour. Roast
Indonesia Flores is roasted using our TAG method – Torrefazione Artigianale Granito, our artisanal single-origin roast. Drawing on more than four decades of expertise in green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping, the TAG roast fully caramelizes the beans' natural sugars to unlock their richest, most complex flavours, guided by the hand of our Master Roaster. It is also offered in other roast levels – you can explore our roast options to find your preference.
Brewing
For espresso, use about 1 tbsp (8 g) of coffee per 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh water. For filter or drip coffee, use 1 tbsp (8 g) per 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water.
