Nicaragua Santa Celia is a rich, smooth single-origin Nicaraguan coffee from our Humaniterra Collection, grown in the highlands of Peñas Blancas. Freshly roasted on demand in our Montréal facility, it offers subtle, natural notes of nuts and chocolate, an excellent aroma, and a pronounced, satisfying finish. It is a warm, approachable cup, at its best brewed as filter or drip.

Tasting Notes

Nicaragua Santa Celia is rich and smooth, led by cocoa and a gentle nuttiness. Subtle chocolate notes and a warm, nutty character are carried by an inviting aroma and a long, pronounced finish. Comforting and easy to enjoy, it is a coffee that shows its best in a careful filter brew. The profile described here is for our TAG roast.

Origin

Nicaragua Santa Celia comes from Peñas Blancas, in the central highlands of Nicaragua, where coffee has been grown on the same estate for seventy years. The farm provides work for around 670 families through both the harvest and the off-season, and coffee remains central to the livelihoods of the community. Coffee first arrived in Nicaragua in the mid-19th century and is now the country's largest export – grown here with care by producers dedicated to steadily improving their land and their craft.

Roast

TAG (Torrefazione Artigianale Granito) is our suggested roast for single-origins. Drawing on more than four decades of expertise in green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping, our TAG roast fully caramelises the beans' natural sugars to unlock their richest, most complex flavours. It is a careful, intuitive process, guided by the hand of our Master Roaster to bring out the fullest potential of each single-origin coffee.

Brewing

For espresso, use about 1 tbsp (8 g) of coffee per 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh water. For filter coffee, use 1 tbsp (8 g) per 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water.
