RW Espresso Tamper

The RW espresso tamper is a simple, solid tool for one important step: compressing the grounds evenly before you pull a shot. It's made of stainless steel throughout, with a 57 mm flat base and a weight that does much of the work for you, so you get a level, consistent tamp without forcing it. A good tamp is the difference between even extraction and a channelled, patchy shot, and this is the straightforward tool to get there.

Build

Both the base and the striking plate at the end are stainless steel, chosen for strength and for standing up to daily use; the end plate is impact-resistant so it holds up to real handling. At 454 g it has enough heft to tamp with controlled, repeatable pressure rather than muscle, and the 57 mm base is sized for matching portafilter baskets.
