Tamping is one of those small steps that quietly decides the shot: press unevenly or with the wrong force and the espresso suffers, no matter how good the grind. The Compak Cube Tamp takes that variable out of your hands and makes it repeatable. It's an automatic, electronic tamper that applies a set, level pressure every time, so each puck is compacted the same way, shot after shot, barista after barista.

How It Works

Slide the loaded portafilter into the holder and an induction sensor detects it automatically, then lowers the tamp and applies your chosen pressure, level and consistent every time. There's nothing to lean on and no technique to master, which is exactly the point: it removes the human variability that makes hand-tamping hard to repeat across a busy service. The tamping area is lit, and the portafilter holder adjusts in height to fit different portafilters.

Tamping Force

The force is set from the front panel and shown on the OLED touch display. It runs from 10 to 30 kg (22 to 66 lb), with a 20 kg default, and you can switch the readout between kilograms and pounds. Dialling the force up or down is a button press, so you can match it to your coffee and keep it locked there for consistency.

Build and Cleaning

Cube Tamp is hand-built by Compak from food-safe materials, in a compact rounded rectangular body that takes up little bench space. The 58 mm compactor matches commercial portafilters, and the anti-adhesive tamping surface stops leftover grinds from carrying into the next tamp. A manual cleaning mode makes it easy to wipe down between services.
