Indonesia Kopi Luwak is one of the rarest and most sought-after coffees in the world, a single-origin Indonesian coffee from our Gran Riserva collection. Freshly roasted on demand in our Montréal facility using our signature TAG method, it is prized for its remarkably aromatic cup and distinctive earthy notes. This is 100% authentic Kopi Luwak – a true collector's coffee and an experience unlike any other, at home as filter or espresso.
Tasting Notes
Kopi Luwak is celebrated above all for its aroma. The cup is intensely fragrant, with deep, earthy notes and a smooth, mellow character that lingers. Rare and unmistakable, it is a coffee to be savoured slowly – an experience as much as a cup.
Origin
Kopi Luwak takes its name from the Indonesian words for coffee ("kopi") and civet ("luwak"). In the forests of the Indonesian archipelago, wild civets roaming free are drawn to the ripest, sweetest coffee cherries. As the cherries pass through the animal naturally, the beans are transformed by enzymes in a way no other process can replicate. Farmers then carefully gather and clean these beans by hand – a slow, painstaking harvest that makes Kopi Luwak one of the rarest and most expensive coffees on earth.
Roast
Indonesia Kopi Luwak is roasted using our TAG method – Torrefazione Artigianale Granito, our artisanal single-origin roast. Drawing on more than four decades of expertise in green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping, the TAG roast fully caramelizes the beans' natural sugars to unlock their richest, most complex flavours. It is a careful, intuitive process, guided by the hand of our Master Roaster to bring out the fullest potential of this exceptional coffee.
Brewing
For espresso, use about 1 tbsp (8 g) of coffee per 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh water. For filter or drip coffee, use 1 tbsp (8 g) per 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water.
