The Rancilio Silvia Pro X is a single-group, dual-boiler espresso machine for the experienced home barista. It carries over Silvia's ease of use and iconic design, then adds two PID controllers, a digital display, a pressure gauge and soft infusion. If you're comparing models, it's the step up from our Rancilio Silvia.

Performance

Separate coffee and steam boilers let you manage extraction and steam independently, with a PID controller on each boiler to keep the temperature stable from shot to shot. Soft infusion gently distributes water at reduced pressure over the coffee before extraction, for a duration you can set from 0 to 6 seconds. The 1 L steam boiler delivers strong steam for cappuccinos, macchiatos and other milk drinks. The digital display brings together a settings menu, shot timer, temperature indicator, water alert and power-on timer.

Compatibility

The machine comes with 8 g and 16 g filter baskets and runs on standard 120 V power. For a full setup, pair it with a grinder such as our Rancilio Stile SD and the tools in our Rancilio Barista Kit.

Build Quality

The body is stainless steel, with a brass brewing group, insulated boilers and a chrome-plated brass portafilter with an ergonomic handle. A multi-directional stainless steel steam wand, steam knob and height-adjustable cup tray round out the build. At 25 cm wide and 20 kg, it's a substantial machine with a narrow footprint.

Maintenance

Descale and clean the brewing group on the schedule Rancilio recommends. Purge and wipe the steam wand after every milk drink, and keep the portafilter and baskets clean. The towel and brush in our Barista Kit handle this daily upkeep.
